WebJAL
Steps to install wallpapers/ringtones
1. Launch WebJAL and select the LOGIN button on the top of the WebJAL window.
2. If you're using your personal copy of WebJAL, enter your username and password when the "User
Login" window appears. If you're using the patched version of WebJAL, simply leave the user name and
password fields blank/empty and select OK.
3. Once you are logged in, plug your data cable into your phone and select the CONNECT TO PHONE
button on the top of the WebJAL window. A "Please Wait" window will appear. Wait for it to disappear
and you'll see the contents of your phone listed in the main window. If a window appears explaining that
WebJAL was unable to connect to your phone, hit the cancel button, unplug your phone, plug it in
again, and start over.
4. Once connected, select the LOAD WALLPAPER or RINGTONE button (depending on which you are
loading) on the left side of the WebJAL window.
5. The main window will refresh to a new screen for adding wallpapers/ringotnes. Select the ADD button
and navigate to your properly formatted .gif files. Highlight the file you wish to upload to your phone,
and select the OPEN button. Your file now appears in the loading window. Add any other files you would
like, remembering that you can only upload one file type at a time (i.e. you can't add ringtones and
wallpapers all at the same time). If you add a file and realize you DON'T want to add it to your phone,
simply highlight it and select the REMOVE button to erase it from your list.
6. Once you have added all of the files you wish to upload to your phone, simply select the DOWNLOAD
button. A "Transferring File" window will appear and when the transfer of your file(s) is completed, a "All
downloads are now finished" message will appear. Select OK.
7. Once your files have been successfully uploaded to your phone, select the DISCONNECT FROM PHONE
button on the top of the WebJAL window BEFORE you unplug your phone. If you are finished using
WebJAL, you can also select the LOGOUT button on the top of the WebJAL window to logout and then
shutdown the WebJAL program.
8. That's it! Your wallpapers/ringtones are now available for use on your phone. Select them the same
way you select any other wallpaper/ringtone.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
The most common problems and fixes are listed below:
1- When I try to log-in it says that username/password is invalid, what do I do?
ANSWER: YOU DID NOT INSTALL THE WEBJAL PATCHER.
After you install WebJal, you must copy and paste the WebJal Patcher file into the install directory. We
provided a link to the default directory in the Loader Directory.
After copying and pasting the file, you must then DOUBLE CLICK the WebJal Patcher file you copied and
click INSTALL.
2- When I try to install the WebJalPatcher, it gives me the following error message:
A required .DLL file, MSVBVM60.DLL, was not found
ANSWER: DO NOT IGNORE THIS ERROR, YOU CAN NOT CONTINUE UNLESS YOU INSTALL THE
PATCHER.
Non members can google this download and install in the directory of your PC seen below. We included
a zip file with that missing DLL for computers which do not have it, please extract it to the following
directory:
C:\Windows\System32\
After extracting the file, please RE-RUN the WebJalPatcher and it should work.
3- When I try downloading ringtones, I get occasional communications errors:
ANSWER: Occasionally, errors like this occur. When such an error does happen, it is recommended you
restart the program and try again. If the error persists, try the following steps:
1- Try loading files one at a time
2- Make sure ringtones are not larger than 210kb (250,000 bytes)
3- Make sure the file name is not too long - consider renaming the file to a shorter file name.
4- Try another file, sometimes communication errors happen on a particular file due to read error or
corrupted files. Remember a computer is not flawless, files occasionally do get corrupted and your
phone is very delicate and will reject file-read errors or corrupted files by a communications error. This
doesn't mean that the file does not work, it means your computer may have trouble reading it at the
current moment. Try another file and try that file at a later date.
4- The Midi Files are too long, how do I shorten them?
ANSWER: We have provided instructions and software so you can shorten your ringtones and select
your favorite part of the song. This tutorial is located in the UTILITIES folder > MIDI SHORTEN
SOFTWARE Directory. Instructions and software are located within the directory.
5- Will this software work with the USB or SERIAL data cables?
ANSWER: Yes, this software will work with any Data Cable
6- When I try to connect to the phone, nothing happens and I never end up connecting to the
phone:
ANSWER: This is most likely to improper settings. Please click the PREFERENCES button on the side of
the software and ensure that you are using the right COM PORT if using a SERIAL cable or if you are
using a USB cable, make sure that the CHECK BOX for USING USB CABLE is checked.
Press APPLY before exiting the PREFERENCES screen.
